Indiana University Foundation

This annual report of the Indiana University Foundation comes to you at a particularly significant moment in the life of IU. We are well positioned to advance our reach and influence through new initiatives in international programs, the life sciences, the arts and humanities, and other areas of teaching and research.

Over IU’s 188-year history, thousands of brilliant scholars, promising students, devoted alumni, and generous donors have led us to this moment. In this report, Ken Gros Louis, chancellor emeritus of the IU Bloomington campus and now university chancellor, charts their influence and notes the many accomplishments private gifts from individuals like you have made possible over the last two decades.

This report also celebrates the service of one of IU’s most loyal sons and inspired leaders, Curt Simic, who will retire this summer as president of the IU Foundation. Under Curt’s 20-year leadership, the Foundation has stewarded your gifts with great integrity and skill. The University’s endowment today stands at $1.6 billion—one of the strongest public university endowments in the nation. This report is a tribute both to Curt’s leadership and to your generosity.

With the firmest of foundations built through private gifts, and with your continuing support, we will seize every opportunity to create an even more brilliant future for IU and ensure that it remains one of America’s leading institutions of higher learning. Thank you for partnering with us in that adventure.
